Dashboard : Sun Strikes Himalaya

Celebrating 2nd Anniversary......

"Dashboard"

Sun Strikes Himalaya

Friends,

This time I am before you with a photograph titled, “Sun Strikes Himalaya”. This photograph was taken in Gwaldam (Uttarakhand, India) during November-2010. Gwaldam is a tranquil place from where the excellent view of Trishul (a Himalayan Peak with the shape of a trident) can be witnessed. I, with my friends, reached Gwaldam by late evening. Our first aim was to select the perfect view point to click snow covered mountain at its best. Luckily the manager of our resort informed us about such point that was ideal for our purpose. All of us planned to reach the spot prior to sun rise. The day next, we were at the above said place half an hour before the sun rise. We positioned our cameras at our tripods and started waiting for first rays of the sun. I pointed my camera at the first peak of Trishul which was higher than the other two. When the first rays of the sun touched this peak, I immediately clicked a few shots. This is one of them. The things which I personally like in this scene, are the texture of the snow, the curves of the peaks, the deep blue sky behind the peak and above all, the mood of light. I used Nikon D-90 Camera with a Sigma 170-500 mm lens to capture this image. The picture was clicked at aperture priority mode (with f 16) and the ISO was 200.

Celebrating 2nd Anniversary....
"Profile"
In fascination with Art: Anjini Prakash Laitu

Friends,

Having worked with BILT, a reputed Company of India, for a period of 35 years, Mr. Anjini Prakash Laitu shifted to Dubai in 1996.

Painting, which he inherited from his mother, had been a passion for him right from his school days. When grew young, Mr. Laitu inclined towards photography as he found this medium of art more effective to express himself. After the retirement from his assignment, he did a three-year course in Fine Art from Sharjah Government Institute of Arts to polish his skills.

During his stay in UAE, he has taken up photography seriously. He is in touch of few art lovers there and is associated with some reputed art-related groups. He loves travelling with his fellows and never fails to capture scenic places. According to Mr. Laitu photography is a mix of Art and Technology and gives him infinite satisfaction and pleasure.

“Abhivyakti: Expression Through Photography” : Second Anniversary

“Abhivyakti: Expression Through Photography”

Second Anniversary

Friends,

I am delighted to inform that our blog, “Abhviyakti: Expression through Photography”, has completed two successful years of its journey and is observing its 2nd anniversary. This blog was commenced in the year 2009, with the aim of sharing the knowhow of photography among the followers of art. Learning the techniques of art-photography in easy way, giving detailed information of diverse places, bringing the creative works of different artists of the country and abroad (both, the great masters and the beginners) to light and sharing information of important events have been our aims since the inception of this blog.

The success of a blog depends wholly on the readers and followers. They are strong pillars of any such podium. I gladly accept that a good numbers of refined readers and followers from India and abroad (Denmark, Chile-South America, Brazil, Turkey etc.) have coupled with the blog. Their cooperative association and precious opinion have always motivated me to maintain this blog properly. I extend my heartfelt thanks to all the readers and followers. I assure that I’ll try my best for the benefit of art lovers in future through “Abhivyakti”.
Many readers and well wishers have sent their messages and wishes on the occasion of our blog’s 2nd Anniversary. Please have a look.

Abhivyakti: A Photographic Journey

Anup Ranjan Mishra

Abhivyakti is approaching its second anniversary. Ever since the blog was hooked (on Monday, 1st June, 2009) to the world wide wave (www), it has made scores of followers and admirers across the globe. Many of us, who have closely seen the blog growing by leaps and bounces, will agree that it has shed its modest look and is flaunting now an impressive and promising persona. Not only the earlier columns, such as Profiles/Interviews, Great Masters, Youth Gallery, Photo Features, Articles, Theme Photos, Information, continue till the date, new columns like Story behind the Picture, Learning, Dashboard, Reminiscence and Obituary, etc. have been incorporated. The artistic portrayal of some of the current events, to name a few: Queer pride march in New Delhi (remember that placard saying “homo-hetero bhai bhai”) and Surajkund craft fair by Indraneel Sen, and Glimpse of Kumbha mela at Haridwar by Anup Shah were awesome. Apart from these, contests, awards and workshops have been part and parcel of the blog.

As I had once said that the blog has provided a much needed podium to the young artists to hone their skills by learning from the masters of the field and demonstrate their own prowess in the photographic art as well. The blog has encased, so far, the profiles and works of great masters like K.G. Maheshwari, O.N. Sharma, Rohinton Mehta, Bhupesh C Little, Anil Risal Singh, Anup Shah, Bhabani Prosad Mondal, Hira Panjabi, Threesh Kapoor, Mukesh Parpiani, Debatosh Sengupta, Dr. J. S. Murthy, Akhil Hardia, Prof. Shivji Joshi, Tilak K. Haria, Rajendra Prasad, Deepak Ghosh, Tamma Srinivasa Reddy, Rajesh Nath, Kr. Shukdeo Singh, Kailash Mittal, Dilip Lokre, Samir M. Mohite, Shekhar Roy, Devendra Sharma and many more. It was also heartening to see the photo-profiles of two of our friends, Marcelo Fernando Maturana Rodriguez, a resident of Puerto Montt, Chile (South America) and William Gaarde-Nissen, Copenhagen, Denmark. The blog has also given place to a number of budding but promising artists like Rajeev Kashyap, S.S. Jirange, Yuwaraj Gurjar, Girish J. Kingar, Ankur Thatai, Indraneel Sen, Chandan D. Naik Gaonkar and Rohit Jat. The artists have picked up different topics covering all sections of art form, such as Indian culture, tribes and tribal dances, festivities like Holi, Dewali, Rath yatra, Bihu, Durga puja, Ganapati puja, Kumbh mela, Carnivals, etc., portraits, landscape: desert, mountains, forests, lakes, ocean, rivers, monsoon, flood; wildlife, pictorial, advertising, fashion, photo-journalism, table-tops, abstract, etc., in colour and black-and-white.

A number of write ups appeared in the learning section of the blog, which time to time updated the knowledge of young artists on various aspects of photography, such as shooting landscape, manmade structures in landscape, birds, lights of diwali, creating pictorial outdoor photograph, magic of inversion, architectural forms, little creatures, flowers, human life, natural elements, digitally created images, still life, black-and-white photographs, etc. The involvement and response of the art lovers have been enormous. Mr. Mohite’s profile drew as many as 30 comments. However, at least one lacuna can be pointed out here that none other than the blogger often contributed to the sections like story behind the picture, dashboard, theme photo, learning, reminiscence, etc.

In an astounding effort, the blog has been updated for 229 times within a short span of two years. And, what is great about it? Just think, from where all these updates come? The rush of updates indicates the popularity of the blog, the kernel of which lies in the sincerity, devotion, determination, truthfulness and hard work of the blogger. The effort required for this achievement is tremendous. Let me open up a little more. Most of us will agree that their works have become more presentable in the blog, in terms of its quality and look. How that happens? It is for the “Midas Touch” given by the blogger, Dr. Pankaj Sharma, who devotes a lot of time to edit the photographs as much as possible and it entails selection, resizing, highlighting, toning down, sharpening, blurring, bordering, watermarking and so on that I can point out as an amateur in this field.

I did not intend to write a review of the blog, but it seems I have ended up doing so. I think a time will come when this blog will be given a sobriquet of the “Encyclopaedia of Photo-artists and their best works”. I have my heartfelt wishes for a bright future of this blog and for its ever-growing followers and admirers.

A Happy Anniversary to Abhivyakti

and

Congratulations to

the Blogger, Dr. Pankaj Sharma and the Blogspot.com

(I would like to share one of my photographs with all of you, entitled Naya Savera”)

Photographer is God's younger brother and thus, he is and next to Him. This may sound a bit exaggerate, but God creates and Photographer showcases his creation. That is the important role played by a photographer. With the advent of technological inventions, now-a-days photography is a revolution.
This exclusive blog on photography is creating a revolution kind of thing with its fantastic work and creativity. Introducing as many as 129 people over the couple of years is absolutely a remarkable work. It’s an extraordinary contribution to this field of photography. Kudos to Dr. Pankaj Sharma for his adventurous work.

Comprehensive photography, the art mastered by Dr. Pankaj, requires relentless hard-work. Introducing various kinds of photography, such as pictorial, black & white, nature, wildlife, travel and journalism is a laudable exercise. I take this opportunity to congratulate "Abhivyakthi" for entering into its wonderful third year.
