 Dheeraj Paul
Born in 1974 in Delhi, Dheeraj Paul hails from a family of well-known skilled professional photographers of India. He has been working for over two decades as an editorial and advertising photographer. Paul is one of the brand ambassadors for Sony Alpha professional camera equipment & Founder Director at Indian Photo Tours, where he mentors Master Classes & Photo Expeditions.
His specialisations are people and travel, fine-art photography, food and architecture photography. He believes in capturing moments in daily-life. Besides outdoor photography he is an expert in indoor lighting set-ups. The important characteristic of Dheeraj Paul is that he pursues the style of his own. He tries to reach the soul of his subjects and this is why his pictures always seem speaking. He teaches advanced photography at the AJK Mass Communication and Research centre at the Jamia Millia Islamia University of Delhi.
Paul is a part of the jury for renowned Sony World Photography Awards 2014 & 2015. He has also been invited thrice in a row for the International Jury by the Humanity Photo Awards 2009, 2011 & 2013, China, which was jointly organised by the China Folklore Photographic Association (CFPA), and the United Nations Educational Scientific and Cultural Organisation (UNESCO).
He won First Prize in THE DIGITAL PHOTOGRAPHER OF THE YEARAWARD by “What Digital Camera Magazine” U.K in year 2005; got Gold Prize (First Prizein CANON Asia & Pacific Photo Contest, in year 2000, got Award in ABB Photo Contest, SWITZERLAND, in year 2000 and got Commendation by UNESCO, World Heritage, JAPAN in 1999. His four pictures were exhibited in the AL THANI AWARDS as 2nd Prize Winner from the Land category of the 2008 Asia without Borders Photography Competition, organised by Asian Geographic Magazines. Besides this, one of his pictures was published and exhibited in the HOUSE OF HUMOUR, BULGARIA in 2005. He was Runner Up in Commonwealth Photographic Awards, U.K in 2006-7.
He has illustrated over 30 books on various subjects. To name a few are, “AROUND INDIA’S FIRST TABLE”, Dining and Entertaining at the Rashtrapati Bhavan, “THE GOLDEN TEMPLE A Gift to Humanity”, THE ART OF INDIAN CUISINE and INDIAN JEWELLERY.
