Celebrating 2nd Anniversary....

“Event”

SLUT WALK IN DELHI

Friends,

There was a different event in the capital city of India, SLUT WALK, in the month of July-2011. Mr. INDRANEEL SEN of Delhi throws light on this event.

--Dr. Pankaj Sharma

Slut Walk was organized in India for the first time in the capital city, Delhi on 31st July, 2011. This famous Slut Walk initially started in Toronto in April -2011 in responses to a police officer who asked the women to avoid dressing like sluts in order to not to be victimized.

This rally was organized with a strong message to curb sexual violence. The main concept behind this event was that the provocative dresses are not to be blamed for rape rather than to change our attitude towards them. Very bold messages like, "My dress is not a yes", "I have got nothing to be ashamed of", “My fight began the day I was born"," etc., were displayed. The dress code of the slut walk here at Delhi was different in comparison to the counterparts. A big number of men also took part in this walk towards strong support for this unique concept. To conclude, the rally gave a well-built message and boosted the participants and many more. This is no doubt a positive sign, but materialization will be a time consuming matter.
