Portraying the Land of God
Kamal Khawar, “Kitty”
Kamal
Khawar is a brilliant photo-artist from one of the beautiful hilly regions of
India, Uttarakhand, popularly known as Devbhoomi
(Land of God). Though he was born in Pantnagar, he was brought up in Almora.
Being a beautiful place, Almora left indelible mark on his mind, and a deep
inclination towards hills and valleys around the town grew in his heart.
His
father is a fine artist. Kamal inherited artistic taste from him quite
spontaneously. He had a keen desire to portray the beauty of nature since his
childhood days. His career into photography started seriously in 1994 when he
started clicking the images from his cousin’s Nikon FM-2 camera. At that time he
was not aware that his hobby would turn into his passion. This camera changed
the way of his life and gradually photography became his full time profession.
He did Diploma in Photography from Rohilkhand University,
Bareilly in 2007 in order to enrich his knowhow. This helped him a lot. Then
after he strived hard to prove his skills and the results were positive. Today
Kamal is a popular photo-artist of his region. His works have been used by
reputed publications. He is advisor of many photographic books and projects. He
has to his credit a number of awards in acclaimed photography competitions.
Kamal is a serious trekker, and this gives him opportunity to explore untouched
gorgeous places.
