 “8^th IIPC World Photography Day Annual Photo Contest-2014”

Photography is an important branch of fine art today. The contribution of India International Photographic Council for encouraging this form of art is praiseworthy. The IIPC World Photography Day Annual Photo Contest is one of the important annual events of the council. This event aims at promoting the photography art selflessly.

The response of participants towards “8^th IIPC World Photography Day Annual Photo Contest-2013” was optimistic. A good number of entries (Nearly 615) from the photography enthusiasts of different regions of India were received in five categories, namely Black and White Pictorial, Colour Pictorial, Nature, Photo-Journalism and Photo-Travel. About 179 photographs got acceptances, 10 photographs received awards and 15 photographs got Certificates of Merit.

Photo Vision, Bareilly orgainsed the exhibition of selected photographs on 19 and 20 August, 2014 in IMA Hall. Famous educationist Professor N. L. Sharma was the chief guest of inaugural function. He accepted photography as the strongest means of expression and an important branch of fine art. A good number of art-lovers visited the show on both days. Mr. Deepak Ghosh (Vice President) welcomed the guests, Dr. Pankaj Sharma (Secretary) told about the activities of IIPC and Photo Vision and Mr. Sanjay Jaiswal (Joint Secretary) gave vote of thanks. Mr. Gopal Sharma (President) presided over the function.

The function was the result of joint efforts of Photo Vision’s members. Mrs. Prerna Verma and Mr. Vijay Kumar Verma (Patrons of Photo Vision), Dr. Kamran Khan (Joint Secretary, Mr. Bijan Das (Vice President), Mr. Bipin Mehra (Cashier), Dr. Anupam Sharma (Advisor) Dr. T. K. Verma, Mr. Ajit Chatterji, Mr. Sachin Gaur, Mr. Satpal Singh, Mr. Sushil Saxena, Mr. Vimal Singh, Miss Priyanka Sharma and Dr. Goyal deserve appreciation for their valuable support. The precious cooperation of Dr. Mridula Sharma is worth mentioning.

Seema Chaubey

“Photography is not a work but passion” is truly exemplified in Seema Chaubey’s photography creations over the years. Having worked for top MNC’s and an alumnus of most prestigious IIM Calcutta, her photographs have been featured in some of the noteworthy photography exhibitions. Also she has been on the panel of jury for several photography pages.

Hailing from Varanasi and settled in Mumbai, she has ample opportunity to capture the diversity of the country through lens. Portraits and nature photography are her forte.  She uses photography as a real and powerful means of communicating with people.

A well-educated and qualified professional with Masters in Physical Chemistry, Diploma in Graphics Design and EPBM from IIM Calcutta, she has carved out a niche for herself in fiercely competitive world of photography in Mumbai.  Enthused by the support, advice and demand of well-wishers and clients, she cofounded “Nostalgia Photography” to cater to the needs of wedding photography. Today “Nostalgia” is leading wedding photography brand in Mumbai and is featured in leading matrimony portals of the country like Myshaadi.in and Sayshadi.com.

“For Livelihood”

The citizens of India enjoy equal rights. People of every age, sex and cast contribute in building the economy of their families. A fair, known as “Urban Haat” takes place annually in my city, Bareilly.  It was December -2013 when I was strolling there and I noticed a shop of beautiful handicraft. The colorful objects attracted me at first sight. I was very much happy to notice that an old lady was the owner of that shop. She seemed to be self confident and satisfied with her job. I was deeply touched by her spirit. When asked, she said that she had been attached with this profession for many years. This is a good mark that in today’s mail dominating society, the women are sincerely engaged in doing hard work for the sake of their families.  

I used a Nikon D 90 camera to click this image. The lens was Nikon 18-105 mm. Exposure was f 5.6, 1/125 Sec. ISO was set at 320.
