A Photographer Par Excellence
Dr. Barun Sinha

Dr. Barun Sinha (Patna) is a renowned photographer of India. For him the journey of photography started way back in 1969 when by sheer accident he landed up with 5 friends in a Wild life Sanctuary. As the night fell, and they did not have any place to stay overnight, they all decided to spend the night on a watch tower. For Dr. Sinha it was a love at the first sight with a girl, called Nature. Two years later with several tours to the nearby forests in this period, a turning point came when a Japanese tourist visited Patna and sold his Minolta SLR with 58 mm, 200 mm f 5.6 and a spare body for next to nothing to him. Now he had a reason to visit the jungles around his place, Patna.
The rigorous demands of his medico surgical career dictated that he nearly left serious photography between 1979 and 1988 while in UK for higher studies. Since 1989, he has been seriously engaged in photography as a hobby as well as in the organisational aspect of it. He has been associated both with IIPC as well as FIP for a long time.
Though he loves all genres of photography, wildlife photography is his area of expertise. His wildlife pictures are outstanding in their compositions and content material. His astonishing pictures are the result of his long-time experience, perseverance and single minded dedication. A number of his photographs have been recognised in the photography contests at national and international levels. In spite of so many achievements in his favourite field, he always works like a learner. Learning is a never ending process for him. He states, “I am still to capture that one image which is equal to a thousand words.”
Dr. Sinha has deep love for his country, i.e., India and thus he has many expectations from Indian Photography. He admits, “Many of my goals are still a dream, such as to see India at the very top of the Global Photography. I want to see Indian photographers’ work being recognised on the basis of contents material. My dream is to see Indian photographers feeling pride in achieving Indian distinctions rather than falling head over heels for foreign distinctions.”
